I'm the main author of Face IT - the adult version of YP Face IT.

I currently work as a researcher in the fields of cleft lip and palate and head & neck cancer.

Claire Hamlet, Researcher, Centre for Appearance Research

I will be helping to conduct trials of YP Face IT to see how well it helps young people.

Dr Heidi Williamson, Researcher, Centre for Appearance Research

Hi I’m Heidi,

I’m in charge of the design and testing of YP Face IT and I have a particular interest in working with young people with a visible difference to find out what support they would like.

Julia

Dr Julia Cadogan, University Hospitals Bristol, NHS Foundation Trust

Hi I’m Julia Cadogan,

my role as a clinical psychologist at Frenchay Hospital includes supporting children, young people and their families who are affected by appearance changing conditions, particularly burns and cleft lip and/or palate. I am very involved in looking at ways of helping people to feel more confident when dealing with social situations and to feel prepared for any treatment they may have to undergo. I have many years experience and aim to continue my work as a clinician and researcher. I have been helping the team at the Centre of Appearance Research with the YP Face IT programme which I think will be of great help to many young people.

Alex

Dr Alex Clarke, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Royal Free Hospital, London

Hi I’m Alex,

I work in a hospital and have many years experience of helping people with visible differences and disfiguring injuries, particularly those affecting the face. I have used my experience with real people to help the team design YP Face IT.

Nicky and I are in charge of CAR and our role is to make sure the team has everything they need to help you. My research focuses on the psychological affect of having a visible difference, and in particular the effects of cancer and treatment on appearance.
